The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is seeking information regarding turkey poaching on state land.

Lt. Jeremy Payne works with the Michigan DNR. He said they received a complaint on the "Report All Poaching" hotline that there were turkey carcasses in a field on state land near Castor Road in Midland county.  Payne said the turkey carcasses were left after meat was cut out of them.

“They were breasted out so the carcasses were left in this field. There were five dead turkeys that we located in the field.”

Payne said the DNR and the Michigan Wild Turkey Hunters Association are offering a reward for anyone with information on the turkeys.

He said the violators could face up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

Anyone with  information is asked to call 800-292-7800.
