A Red Flag Warning, indicating critical fire danger, has been issued for the northeast Lower Peninsula until 8pm Saturday.

Counties included in the advisory include Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Crawford, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, and Roscommon.

According to the National Weather Service, humidity in the 20 to 25 percent range, and temperatures of 85 to 90 degrees, will create critical fire conditions across the region.

The weather service says any fires that do develop will likely spread rapidly. Winds are expected to be in the 15-20mph range, with occasional gusts to 40 mph during the afternoon.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is also not issuing any burn permits in the northern Lower Peninsula or eastern Upper Peninsula on Saturday, due to dangerous fire conditions.
