Every year, the Friends of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary brings the world of cinema to Alpena! For five days in January, northeast Michigan is treated to some of the most impressive ocean and Great Lakes films from around the world. Film screenings are complemented by social events, educational activities, and opportunities to meet filmmakers. For more information, please call or email Film Festival Coordinator Stephanie Gandulla at 989-884-6212 or visit http://www.thunderbayfriends.org/film_fest.html The Thunder Bay International Film Festival is an annual fundraiser for Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, which encompasses 4,300 square miles in northwestern Lake Huron. Designated in 2000, the sanctuary exists to preserve a significant collection of historic shipwrecks, and through innovative and accessible educational programs, works to protect the Great Lakes for future generations.
